Prices of commercial-use LPG cylinders cut by ₹39.50

Non-subsidized 19-kg commercial gas cylinder utilized in hotels

Price reduction attributed to decline in fuel prices in global market

Today (December 22), government-operated fuel retailers reduced the prices of commercial-use liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) by ₹39.50 per 19-kg cylinder, reflecting the decline in fuel rates in the global markets.

As per the latest pricing information from the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), a non-subsidized 19-kg commercial gas cylinder, utilized in hotels, restaurants, and industrial applications, will now be priced at ₹1,757 in Delhi, ₹1,868.50 in Kolkata, ₹1,710 in Mumbai, and ₹1,929 in Chennai. Regional variations in fuel prices are attributed to variances in local levies.

Despite the stability in the prices of subsidized 14.2-kg LPG cylinders, utilized by households for cooking, the global decline in fuel prices will effectively lessen the government’s subsidy responsibilities. For general customers in New Delhi, subsidized 14.2-kg LPG cylinders are retailed at ₹903 each, while households covered under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) can acquire them for ₹603 per cylinder.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Union Cabinet on August 29th approved a reduction of ₹200 in the price of a 14.2-kg cooking gas cylinder for all 316.4 million customers. Additionally, the subsidy of ₹200 per refill for over 96 million economically disadvantaged individuals under the Ujjwala Yojana will be sustained.
