CET scores not mandatory for BSc nursing course admission after 2 rounds of selection by KEA

Allotment of vacant seats to be done by colleges without requiring CET scores

Eligibility criteria set by RGUHS to be considered for admissions

Students seeking admissions to BSc nursing courses in colleges across Karnataka have a very good news from the state government. Students wouldn’t need CET scores to get admission into BSc nursing courses across colleges.

The state government has given this relaxation to students only for this year. This relaxation has been made owing to late announcement of CET criteria for admissions to BSc nursing courses in the state.

The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) will hold only two rounds of selection for the allotment of BSc nursing course seats to students. The seats that remain vacant after these rounds will be left to colleges to decide upon the allotment of these seats based on eligibility criteria set by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences.

“We are considering this relaxation only for this year as a number of seats would still be vacant even after doing two rounds of selection,” said the medical education minister, Dr Sharan Prakash Patil in response to an MLC’s query in the legislative council.

It is also for the first time that the government and nursing colleges will get into an agreement for the allotment of seats to aspiring BSc nursing students in the state.

There are over 35,000 seats for admission in government and private colleges for BSc nursing courses across the state.
