The finalisation of candidates from the Indian National Congress (INC) for the 2024 Lok Sabha Election is underway. A meeting of the Central Election Committee (CEC) extended until midnight under the lead of INC President Mallikarjun Kharge. Reports suggest that 14 candidates from Karnataka will be announced on March 8th. These names will be included in the announcement of the first list of candidates from INC.

The date for the election is expected to be announced shortly. The Bharatiya Janata PARTY (BJP) has announced 195 candidates in its first list. A CEC meeting of Congress was also held on 7th March. Candidates from Karnataka, Kerala, Chattisgarh, Delhi and Lakdhadweep were discussed. These are states wherein either the Congress would be fighting on all seats or wherein the finer details of the alliance have been chalked out. It is expected that senior leaders and Rajya Sabha members will be in the pool of candidates to ensure better results.

INC leader Rahul Gandhi might contest from Wyanada as well as Amethi. INC leader Shashi Tharoor will contest in all likelihood from Thiruvananthapuram, the constituency he has represented in the Lok Sabha on 3 consecutive occasions starting from 2009.
