Court has dismissed HD Revanna's interim anticipatory bail
Case involves allegations of kidnapping and 'sexual abuse' against him
Justice Santhosh Gajanan Bhat rejected his bail plea after hearing
In a significant setback for HD Revanna, the People’s Representatives’ Special Court has dismissed his interim anticipatory bail plea. The decision comes in the midst of a case involving allegations of kidnapping and ‘sexual abuse’ against him.
Justice Santhosh Gajanan Bhat rejected his plea after a thorough hearing.
The hearing, which commenced earlier today, saw arguments from both sides for nearly two hours before the judge made the decisive ruling. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) was represented by Advocate BN Jagadish, who requested time to present objections against Revanna’s bail application. Conversely, Revanna’s advocate, Murthy Naik, contested the plea for additional time, citing legal procedures.
Revanna, accused number 1 in the case filed by the Holenarasipura Town police, faces charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code related to the alleged incident. Notably, the SIT recently rescued the kidnapped woman from a location linked to Revanna’s close aide while the court proceedings were underway.
Even as the verdict was pronounced, SIT sleuths rushed to former PM HD Devegowda’s residence in Padmanabhanagar and arrested the accused. As many as 10 sleuths were present during his arrest.
