Getting info about your debit card details

Cybercrimes can happen through a number of deceitful ways. You all would be aware of how you can be taken for a ride as fraudsters would call you up in the guise of bank officials and extract extremely crucial private information from you. It could be your bank details, or KYC information or simply, an OTP!

By getting your debit or credit card details or the CVV on your cards, it is easy to extract information. But the newer way is different!

How it’s done

Once they get these details, they operate in an entirely different manner. They use apps like MY SMS, ANY DESK.

Fraudsters who intend to get information about customers approach such people like business owners who are on the prowl for a massive customer base to grow their business.

After getting in touch with such business owners, fraudsters promise them that they have a big customer base and would help them grow. Initially, they would have gained access to such gullible business owners through apps like Just Dial. After gaining their confidence, they ask the owners to swipe their cards. Once the owners do, these fraudsters pretend that the POS machines are not working. And while they pretend, they capture the visuals of the cards in order to extract the details.

Later, as part of their ploy, they also prevail upon the owners to download business lead apps. Along with these apps., they also ask the owners to download MY SMS app.

How to protect yourself

The solution is simple! Just don’t give your mobile phones to anyone. If you come across any apps on your phone which you have downloaded, delete them.
