The main targets of these online fraudsters are often people who don’t have a steady job. These scammers pretend to be employers, especially for desirable government jobs like those in banks. 

The scam starts with a seemingly legitimate phone call offering an attractive job opportunity. To proceed with the job application, the scammers ask for a small fee of 10 rupees.

Once the victim agrees, they are sent a link, supposedly leading to the job application form. This is where the trap is set. The form asks the unsuspecting individual to input sensitive information, including their account number and CVV. The scammers reassure the victim that only 10 rupees will be deducted as the application fee, playing down any concerns.

Within ten minutes of submitting the form, the entire amount in the victim’s account is taken by the fraudsters. This simple yet effective tactic leads to financial devastation.

To protect yourself from such scams, it’s crucial to be cautious. Job seekers should approach companies directly for job inquiries and verify opportunities from trustworthy sources. Never share sensitive information like account numbers, CVV, or OTP with unknown callers or through suspicious links. Legitimate employers do not require such details.
