Rishabh Pant joined DC during the auction

The Delhi Capitals (DC) franchise have released a documentary on their YouTube channel which traces the journey of Indian wicketkeeper Rishab Pant from the time he was involved in an accident that ruled out his participation in all forms of cricket for a year. It was on December 30th 2022 that this accident took place in which a bus driver’s presence of mind saved Rishabh Pant after his car collided with a divider and caught onto fire in the early hours of the day. In the documentary Assistant Coach of DC Pravin Amre highlighted how the top concern for everyone involved was that a brain injury would have irreversible changes. 

India and DC spinner Axar Patel recalled how a call from Rishab Pant’s manager stating that he is safe despite sustaining grievous injuries is what brought a sigh of relief to him. “Now I was assured that he’ll fight. He’s our fighter,” Axar recalled.

The DC unit was confident that Rishabh Pant would emerge as a force to reckon with and even greater strength of character after having recovered from injury. DC are hopeful that he’ll be available for selection in the 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Rishabh Pant even joined the DC team during the auction which was held in Dubai.
