Bomb threat emails to over 60 schools in Delhi-NCR today (May 1) morning caused widespread panic and disruption among schools. The source of these menacing messages has been traced back to Russia, with the email’s IP address pointing to the domain “mail.ru”.

Parents and students were thrown into a state of turmoil as schools in the national capital and Noida scrambled to address the threats.

While some school principals speculated that the emails might be the work of disgruntled individuals, others lamented the increasing frequency of such hoax threats, which have become a disturbing trend in recent months.

Authorities were swift to respond to the crisis, with Lt Governor VK Saxena reportedly affirming that Delhi Police had identified the origin of the threatening emails. Assuring the public that stringent action would be taken against the perpetrators, Saxena emphasized that there was no cause for undue alarm as investigations suggested the threats were likely a hoax.

During a visit to one of the targeted institutions, DAV School in the Model Town area, Saxena commended the rapid and thorough response of the Delhi Police, who swiftly deployed bomb disposal teams and canine units to sweep the premises for any potential dangers. He reiterated the city’s commitment to maintaining vigilance and ensuring the safety and security of its residents.
