Also, Chandan pleaded with those who are spreading misinformation not to tarnish the image of those in public life. He said, “The personal lives of celebrities should not be made public. When we sought divorce, our parents told us that we have a stature in the society and sought us to make independent decisions. The divorce is purely mutual. Don’t sow seeds of hate and suspicion. It is not happy news for us. Don’t use our personal lives to get entertainment. There is no humanity in that.”

On her part, Nivedita said, “There are reports that we have resorted to ‘divorce of convenience’ with an eye on grabbing offers from producers. I have done so many shows and I am happy. Our shows have not had any impact on our lives. There was no compatibility with us. We are not going to a foreign country. Don’t believe any rumours. It hurts our sentiments.”

Last week, the celebrity couple sought divorce on the grounds of incompatibility. The two are known for their prowess in singing and dancing. Several theories of their divorce were making the rounds.
