James Cameron’s latest Avatar film has delivered massive global and Indian earnings in its first two weeks, but despite the numbers, it remains outside the all-time top 50 highest-grossing films worldwide.
James Cameron’s much-awaited sci-fi spectacle Avatar: Fire and Ash has made a powerful start at the global box office, collecting an estimated ₹7,700 crore worldwide within its first two weeks of release. However, despite this massive figure, the film has not managed to secure a place among the world’s top 50 highest-grossing films of all time.
According to the latest tracking data from Box Office Mojo, Avatar: Fire and Ash is currently placed at the 100th position on the global all-time earnings chart. The report suggests that entering the top 10 list remains a major challenge for the film, even with steady collections.

This outcome is particularly striking given director James Cameron’s historic dominance at the global box office. His 2009 film Avatar continues to hold the top spot on the all-time list with a record-breaking $2.9 billion in earnings. It is followed by Avengers: Endgame (2019) in second place, Avatar: The Way of Water (2022) in third, Titanic in fourth, and the Chinese blockbuster Ne Zha 2 in fifth place.
When compared to these giants, industry trackers point out that Avatar: Fire and Ash, despite its grand scale, visual excellence and huge budget, has delivered only a moderate result in the context of all-time box office rankings.
In India, however, the film has performed strongly. It earned ₹109.5 crore in its opening week. On the eighth day, collections stood at ₹7.65 crore, followed by ₹10 crore on the ninth day. The film added ₹5 crore each on the 11th and 12th days, ₹5.25 crore on the 13th day, and ₹6.9 crore on the 14th day. On the 15th day, collections stood at ₹2.48 crore as of 9:10 am IST. The total India net collection is reported at approximately ₹162.68 crore.

While Avatar: Fire and Ash continues to draw audiences and add to its overall earnings, its current global ranking highlights the increasing difficulty of breaking into the all-time box office elite, even for franchise films with worldwide appeal.
