“This is to officially announce that @deepikapadukone will not be a part of the upcoming sequel of #Kalki2898AD. Despite the long journey of making the first film, we were unable to find a partnership. And a film like @Kalki2898AD deserves that commitment and much more. We wish her the best with her future works,” read the statement.

The announcement has set social media abuzz, with many fans questioning the decision and expressing disappointment. “Nag Ashwin should be ready to face the music from Deepika fans,” one user commented. Another speculated, “I don't think it's the effect of Prabhas/Spirit, it might be something else.”

This is not the first time Deepika has exited a Prabhas project. A few months ago, she reportedly walked out of Spirit, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, allegedly due to disagreements over working conditions. Reports claimed that Deepika had asked for an eight-hour workday, a profit-sharing arrangement, and requested not to dub in Telugu — demands that allegedly led to her replacement by Triptii Dimri.

Deepika played a pivotal role in Kalki 2898 AD alongside Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, and Disha Patani. Her absence in the sequel will mark a major change in the storyline, leaving fans eager to know who will step into her role.
