In a recent development, an FIR has been registered against top BJP leaders, including party chief JP Nadda, Karnataka unit chief BY Vijayendra, and the party’s IT cell chief Amit Malviya. The case revolves around allegations of inciting communal hatred through a video posted on the BJP Karnataka’s social media page.

The 17-second animated video, uploaded on Saturday, May 4, portrays Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah allegedly favoring Muslims in fund allocation. The video compares the distribution of funds to different communities, portraying a biased narrative.

The FIR was lodged based on a complaint filed by Ramesh Babu, a member of the Karnataka Congress’s legal unit, who urged action against the BJP leaders. Earlier, the Karnataka Congress had also submitted a complaint to the Chief Electoral Officer of the state regarding the controversial video.

In response to the FIR, state Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy criticized the BJP’s tactics, saying that the BJP doesn’t have common sense, and that their top leadership is ‘also like that’. He further added that they will not even win in double digits this time.

This development adds fuel to the ongoing political tensions in Karnataka ahead of the upcoming elections, highlighting the sensitive nature of communal politics in the state.
