Flipkart, the Walmart owned e-commerce giant has officially ended its Work-From-Home (WFH) policy and asked all employees to return to the office five days a week. The decision marks the final phase of its gradual rollback of remote work, which began in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. Initially, senior employees like vice presidents were asked to return, but now the mandate applies to all roles across departments.

Although the new policy requires full-time office presence, the transition will happen in phases over the next few months. Some job-specific exceptions remain, and employees will still have a limited number of WFH days available each year.
Flipkart confirmed the move, stating that the majority of its workforce, especially field employees, had already been working from designated locations. At its corporate headquarters, the return to office has already led to increased collaboration and stronger team dynamics. The company believes that in-person interactions foster a shared purpose and help build a cohesive community, particularly important for onboarding new hires.
This move comes as Flipkart intensifies its efforts in the competitive quick commerce sector, alongside rivals like Blinkit, Zepto and Swiggy Instamart. Among these players, Flipkart is one of the last to fully end WFH. Amazon and Meesho have already mandated full-time office work, while Swiggy maintains a hybrid model.
