Owned by the South Western Railway department, the refurbished carriage restaurant has been leased to a private company. It is projected to generate an annual revenue of 7.54 crores. Remarkably, the railway department has provided the coach to the contracted company free of cost.

Dubbed the Bogi restaurant, it offers a delectable fusion of South Indian and North Indian cuisine, promising a gastronomic delight for patrons. The venture has received acclaim for its cleanliness and quality of food from its patrons, marking it as a promising endeavour for the railway department.

Buoyed by the success of the Bogi restaurant, similar initiatives are underway. Baiyappanahalli railway station now boasts its own bogie restaurant, signaling a potential expansion of the project in the near future.

As the railway department explores new avenues for revitalizing disused assets, the transformation of old coaches into vibrant eateries represents a promising trend in railway innovation.
