Led by Bangalore South MP Tejasvi Surya, members of the BJP congregated in front of the mobile store at NagarathPete in Bengaluru in which a Hindu shopkeeper Mukesh (who owns a mobile shop) was allegedly attacked for playing Hanuman Chalisa, a hymn dedicated to Lord Hanuman.
These members chanted the hymn en masse and even held Bhagave Dhwaja as part of a silent protest.

Move to ‘strengthen’ Hindu confidence
Leaders of the Hindu groups who are taking part in the protests assert that such a move is being held in order to send out a strong message to their opponents and increase pride among Hindus, as also their confidence.
Karnataka government criticised
The members of the Hindu groups have also criticised the Karnataka government, led by CM Siddaramaiah. They alleged that the government is going soft on Islamist radicals, with a view to appease them and keep their vote bank intact.
Complaint lodged against Tejasvi Surya
Meanwhile, the Congress had lodged a complaint against the BJP MP for fanning communal sentiments, using the issue. Addressed to the election commissioner, the complaint further notes that such a move will create disharmony among sections of the society.
