ST Somashekar assured that he had responded to the notice served to him

the Bengaluru water crisis was also discussed in the meeting

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that has allied with Janata Dal Secular (JD(S)) for the 2024 Lok Sabha Election is now faced with difficulties owing to its rebel Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs). S.T Somashekhar who indulged in cross voting during the Rajya Sabha election and Shivaram Hebbar who abstained from voting have shown hints of joining the Indian National Congress (INC). They were spotted at the residence of Deputy Chief Minister (DCM) DK Shivakumar leading to speculations.

They both jointly arrived at Sadashivanagar wherein DK Shivakumar resides and held discussions with him. Reports suggest that apart from discussions pertaining to getting inducted in Congress, the Bengaluru water crisis and the general political atmosphere in Karnataka were also discussed. They are also said to have spoken about which candidate to endorse. The roadmap after the 2024 Lok Sabha election and whether or not they should resign as MLAs was also talked about.

Speaking to the media afterwards, ST Somashekar assured that he had responded to the notice served to him for going against the party’s whip. He also criticised the BJP MP candidate from Bengaluru North Shobha Karandlaje. “Has she come to Bengaluru north to become an MP or to set it on fire?,” he asked.
