MI defeated the DC by 29 runs

We cleared a lot of minds: Pandya

It was a wonderful batting performance: Rohit

Hardik Pandya faced a less hostile crowd in the Wankhede Stadium on 7th April as the Mumbai Indians (MI) comprehensively defeated the Delhi Capitals by 29 runs. The players then paid respect to the spectators by performing a lap of honour. “It was a lot of hard work. We cleared a lot of minds, made sure our plans are right, the intent is right, and today was one of the days where everything clicked. There has been a lot of love and care going around. Everyone knows we lost three games, but the belief and attitude of backing each other was there, which has been fantastic. We needed just one win, and today is just the start,” Pandya said in the post match presentation.

Whether or not the team is divided, the franchise is at least publicly broadcasting an image of unity. A video was released on social media by MI wherein Rohit Sharma is seen addressing the team. “It was a wonderful batting performance. It’s something that we’ve all been striving for from game one. It goes to show that individual performances don’t matter if the whole batting group can stand up put their hand up and take a look at the team’s goal, we can achieve that kind of total. So I think that is something that we have been talking about for a long time. It’s something that the batting coach, Mark, and the captain want. So it is wonderful to see and long may it continue,” Rohit said.
