The “Silicon City” has been inundated by heavy rains since evening, resulting in widespread disruptions and hazardous conditions throughout the city.

Torrential Downpour Across the City

The relentless rain has affected numerous areas including Seshadripuram, Sivananda Circle, Vijayanagar, Shivajinagar, Malleswaram, Vasantnagar, Shantinagar, Jayanagar, Yeshwanthpur, Rajaji Nagar, Koramangala, MG Road, and Cubbon Park. The heavy downpour has led to significant disturbances and emergencies in several parts of Bengaluru.

Tree Falls on Car, Traps Driver

In a particularly alarming incident, a tree was uprooted and fell on a car near Aravinda Motors in Peenya, trapping the driver inside. Firefighters are on the scene, working diligently to rescue the trapped individual.

Additional Tree Incidents

Trees have also fallen in other parts of the city, including Jayanagar and Bannerghatta Road. Near Vega City Mall on Bannerghatta Road, a tree fell and blocked the road, prompting firefighters to clear the obstruction. Another tree fell near the 4th block in Jayanagar, causing further disruptions.

Flooded Roads

New Airport Road, Hennur, Jakkasandra, Veerasandra and Koramangala are experiencing severe flooding, with the main road in Jakkasandra turning into a virtual river, making vehicular movement impossible. Similarly, Lulu Mall Road has also been transformed into a stream, forcing residents to park their cars and bikes on the roadside.

Power Outages

In Madiwala, the heavy rains caused large trees to uproot, which in turn severed two electricity poles. Thankfully, there have been no reported injuries from this incident.

The heavy rains accompanied by thunder and lightning have thrown life out of gear in Bengaluru, leading to traffic snarls, power outages, and general chaos. Authorities are urging residents to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel until the situation improves.
