Almond or badam milk

To prepare kesar badam milk, you need almonds, saffron, milk, and honey. Soak a handful of almonds overnight. Peel them in the morning and blend with a cup of milk until smooth. Add a pinch of saffron soaked in warm milk for flavour and colour. Sweeten with honey to taste. Serve chilled.

Turmeric milk

The thought of it may not go well with the kids, but if you prepare this way, they will love it. Use turmeric powder, milk, honey, and cinnamon. Heat a cup of milk in a saucepan. Add half a teaspoon of turmeric powder and a pinch of cinnamon. Stir well and simmer for a few minutes. Sweeten with honey and serve warm. Turmeric offers anti-inflammatory properties, making it a healthy addition to your child’s diet.

Millets drink

Millets like green gram, ragi and even rice can be used here. Soak them (even their sprouts could be used for more benefits) and grind them with water. To this add jaggery and give it to children.

Coconut water smoothie

This easy-to-prepare smoothie requires tender coconut water, ripe bananas, pineapple chunks, and mint leaves. Blend tender coconut water with chopped bananas and pineapple chunks until smooth. Add a few mint leaves for freshness. This hydrating smoothie is packed with electrolytes and vitamins.

Barley water

Barley is a wonderfully versatile cereal grain with a rich nut-like flavour and an appealing chewy, pasta-like consistency. Take 1 cup pearl barley, 7-8 cups of water, juice of 1 lemon, 1 tablespoon honey (optional), cinnamon stick, root ginger. Boil the water along with the barley with a cinnamon stick and ginger. Let the pot simmer for at least 30 minutes and then let the water cook. Strain the concoction. Then you can mix lemon juice and honey (optional) for flavour.

Barley water can also be flavoured with various other concoctions, such as lemon juice and lemon rind.

Watermelon mint cooler

Watermelon cubes, mint leaves, lime juice, black salt, sugar and ice cubes are required to prepare this. Blend watermelon cubes with mint leaves and lime juice until smooth. Strain to remove pulp. Add a pinch of black salt and sugar syrup to taste. Serve chilled with ice cubes for a refreshing summer.
