The New Year was welcomed with new vigour by the city of Bengaluru. The sound of the celebrations in the prominent streets of Bengaluru has brought a smile on the face of the citizens of the city. The prominent streets included MG Road, Brigade Road and Church Street among other destinations. Certain instances of nuisance created by those who became drunk also came to the forefront. 

The youth of the city welcomed the new year by dancing at 12 AM and bursting crackers. They greeted and wished each other.

The entry to MG Road was blocked from both ends in order to control the crowd.  The movement of vehicles was prohibited. The people gathered had completely lost themselves in the celebrations. 

A case of inappropriate conduct by a man towards a woman also surfaced. This led to a conflict between the man and the woman’s boyfriend. The police intervened to prevent the escalation of the conflict. 

Other parts of the state also celebrated this occasion. The Mysuru Palace was decorated with electric lights. Other districts such as Mangaluru, Udupi, Davangere and Koppala witnessed hotels celebrating the event. The New Year also represents hope for the people for the times to come.
