I like watching rom-coms as a genre: Bhumi

    I believe that a film is a filmmaker's self-expression:Bhumi

Bhakshak starring Bollywood actress Bhumi Pednakar released on Netflix on February 9th. In the film Bhumi Pednakar plays the role of a journalist. The film is based on a real life incident. It is pertaining to the sexual abuse of young girls in a home shelter in a Muzzafurpur women’s shelter in Bihar which came to light based on a report to the Bihar Government filed by students of the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS).

Bhumi Pednakar is busy with promotional activities pertaining to the film. She was also asked a question pertaining to Animal, which has become a much discussed topic across social media. Bhumi Pednekar stated that she watched the film although she is not a fan of that genre.  “I don’t like watching hyper-masculine films. This is not something that has developed now, I have never enjoyed those kinds of films even before. Even in Hollywood, the kind of action films… I like watching rom-coms as a genre. I genuinely believe that a film is a filmmaker’s self-expression, and that is very important. But as an audience, what you learn from that self-expression… that is the challenge,” she said. Whether Sandeep Vanga Reddy would react to this rather measured statement remains to be seen.
