In the upscale area of Shankarapuram, authorities seized a staggering 4kg and 400 grams of gold jewelry, valued at over Rs 3 crore. Another raid on Sharadadevi Road yielded 3kg and 400 grams of gold worth Rs 2 crore and 13 lakh. Additionally, in Jayanagar’s 3rd block, 1 kg and 200 grams of gold were confiscated.

The raids also uncovered a valuable 5.99 carat diamond, valued at Rs 3 lakh 14 thousand, near the Basavanagudi Post Office.

These operations were part of a broader sweep conducted across more than 20 locations throughout Karnataka. The timing of the raids, just ahead of the first phase of polling scheduled for April 26, adds a political dimension to the crackdown. The second phase is slated for May 7, with results to be declared on June 4.

The raids underscore the government’s commitment to combating financial irregularities and ensuring compliance with tax regulations, particularly in the lead-up to significant electoral events.
