Is Sam Pitroda becoming the Achilles heel for the Congress party? Even as the party firefights the wealth redistribution scheme it intends to bring if it enjoys power, Pitroda has thrown a new bombshell.

The statement relates to inheritance tax in which he proposed 50% on personal property. Naturally, the BJP has latched on to it, saying Congress is usurping people’s wealth with an eye on appeasement.

As per the leader, he said that if an individual possesses $100 million in wealth and upon their demise, they can potentially transfer only 45% to their children, with the remaining 55% being claimed by the government. It was remarked that this law is intriguing, as it implies that individuals who generate wealth in their lifetime must allocate a portion of it to the public upon their departure—not the entirety, but half, which was viewed as equitable.

Sam Pitroda not new to controversies 

In fact, is Pitroda doing more harm than good for the Congress? Well, even as the grand old party distanced itself from his remarks, let’s also tell you how he had embarrassed his party in 2019 with his ‘hua-to-hua’ comment in relation to anti-Sikh riots.
