In the largest drug bust to date, the Bengaluru Police confiscated 16 kilograms of MDMA and 500 grams of cocaine, with an estimated value of Rs 21 crore.

Leonard Okwudili, a Nigerian national residing in Ramamurthy Nagar, Bengaluru, has been apprehended in connection with the drug seizure. It is reported that the seized narcotics were intended for distribution at rave parties leading up to the New Year festivities in the city.

Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda stated, “The CCB police successfully seized 16 kg of MDMA in crystal and powder forms, valued at Rs 16 crore. Additionally, 500 grams of cocaine, worth Rs 5 crore, was confiscated. This marks the largest drug haul in the history of the Bengaluru Police.”

Officials revealed that the Nigerian suspect had rented a residence in the city and had been living there for a year.

He entered India on a business visa, which is purportedly still valid. Dayananda further commented, “The African national concealed a variety of drugs in soapboxes, bedsheet covers, and chocolate boxes within his residence. He operated discreetly, selling these drugs without arousing suspicion. We are actively investigating the source of his drug procurement and distribution methods.”

The police have initiated a comprehensive inquiry into the matter and are currently interrogating the suspect. They are also exploring whether Okwudili has any legal entanglements in other states across India. Additionally, the landlord of the rented property has also been subjected to questioning in connection with the case.
