For R Ashwin, who played a century of test matches, it was indeed a memorable outing. In all, he plundered 9 wickets, 5 in the first and 4 in the second.
For the visitors, they could manage only 218 in the first innings and 195 in the second one. But the hosts plundered a robust 477.
For India, openers Rohit Sharma (103) and Shubman Gill (110) notched up brilliant centuries. These were ably assisted by good contributions from debutant Devdutt Padikkal (65), Yashasvi Jaiswal (57), and Sarfaraz Khan (56), who all scored half-centuries.
