India has launched ‘Operation Ajay’ with the objective of systematically evacuating its nationals from Israel.

The Indian embassy in Israel is currently in the process of compiling lists of Indian citizens for each evacuation phase, with the first group of registered Indian citizens having already been notified.

The initial evacuation flight is scheduled today (October 12), and notifications will subsequently be sent to other registered individuals for upcoming flights. Special charter flights and other essential arrangements are being organized.

Furthermore, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has established a 24/7 control room in Delhi to oversee the operation. Separate emergency hotlines are active in Tel Aviv and Ramallah to monitor the situation in Israel and Palestine.

India’s efforts are aimed at assisting more than 18,000 Indians in Israel, comprising a diverse group that includes students, caregivers, diamond traders and IT professionals.

This evacuation operation isn’t India’s first; the country has previously successfully executed operations like ‘Operation Ganga’ to rescue Indians from Ukraine, where around 20,000 Indians, including students, were stranded.

India has also exhibited its dedication to the safety of its citizens through ‘Operation Kaveri,’ which involved evacuating over 534 Indian nationals from Sudan during a period of civil unrest.
