Ashwin is on his way to become the second fastest to reach the 500 test wickets

England were bowled out for 292

Bumrah impressed by picking up 9 wickets across 2 innings

There must have been nerves for the Indian team heading into the fourth day in Vishakapatnam as they needed to pick up 9 wickets with England requiring 332 runs to win. Night watchman Rehan Ahmed showed positive intent with the bat but was soon trapped LBW by all-rounder Axar Patel.

Spinner Ashwin later grabbed the dangerous Ollie Pope’s wicket on account of a superb reflex catch by Rohit Sharma. He also got hold of Joe Root’s wicket through the means of a LBW. Ashwin’s wicket tally tally in international tests rests at 499. He looks well on his way to become the second fastest to reach the 500 test wickets feat after Muthiah Muralidharan.

Zak Crawley who was looking in form by having added 73 to his run tally fell to Kuldeep before Lunch. Bairstow fell to Bumrah shortly afterwards. This consolidated India’s position in the game. Shreyas had Ben Stokes run out after Lunch. Despite some resistance by Tom Hartley, England were eventually bowled out for 292.

The 106-run victory has ensured that the 5-match series is levelled at 1-1. Yashaswi Jaiswal whose double century in the first innings gave India an advantage would be a prime contender for the player of the match award. Bumrah too impressed by picking up 9 wickets across 2 innings.
