As RCB, led by captain Faf du Plessis, began to bat first, they had a disappointing start as opening batters scored runs at a snail’s pace and were at 37 runs in 5 overs for a loss of one wicket. Faf could score only 17 runs off 14 balls, including 1 six and 2 fours, before getting out. He fell to Trent Boult, who induced a catch after conceding a boundary.

Following Faf, Virat Kohli, too, lost his wicket after accumulating 33 runs off 24 balls with 1 six and 3 fours. However, Kohli’s attempt to hit a six off Chahal resulted in another catch, delivering an early blow to RCB’s innings.

Glenn Maxwell shattered all the expectations by losing his wicket without even scoring one run for RCB in this match. RCB put up a target of 172 runs for RR to chase in 20 overs.

As RR began to chase 172 target, their opening batters showed stability in their batting till the loss of the first wicket in the sixth over when their score stood at 47. In an interesting turn of events, RCB bowlers took the crucial wickets of Jaiswal and Samson in the next five overs. RR’s score stood at 98 for loss of 3 wickets in 11 overs. Riyan Parag and Shimron Hetmtyer scored crucial runs for RR to help them sail smoothly towards victory. In a magical twist at this jucture, Parag is clean bowled by Mohammad Siraj and he takes another crucial wicket of Hetmyer in the same over. However, luck didn’t favour RCB and RR wins the match by 4 wickets with Rovman Powell hitting a six in the last ball of the 19th over.
