Movie talks about extensive homework done by PMO and home ministry

Not a word is spoken about patriotism yet it invokes the patriotic feeling

Movie with a simple narrative, impressive writing and outstanding direction

Directed by Aditya Suhas and written by Adithya Dhar, the movie Article 370 is completely based on what incidents led to the revocation of Article 370, a special status given to Kashmir after Independence. The movie talks about the extensive homework done by the PMO and home ministry.

The movie starts with the background voice of Ajay Devgn who gives us a brief glimpse of history which led the then government to give Kashmir a special status. From there, we are back to 2019. The movie then proceeds in chapters. Every incident shown is well connected.

The real heroes of the movie are Yami Gautam and Priyamani. It’s amazing to see how two women shoulder the entire movie. The first half is relatively slow and tries to build the momentum in the second half.

Yami has done a great job as an angry woman. She also has a past which is shown in just one or two scenes, they have not wasted any time showing it elaborately. That way the writer has done a commendable job. Yami is brilliant in her acting and has done full justice to her role.

Another pillar to the movie is Priyamani. She dons the role of PMO effortlessly. Her cotton clad sarees are something you have to watch out for. Priyamani emerges as the brain behind getting the special status abrogated from Kashmir.

Arun Govil who acted as Lord Ram in Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan slips easily into the character of our Prime Minister Modi. The person who walks away with all the accolades in the theatre is actor Kiran Karamadas who plays the role of our Home Minister Amit Shah.

The movie is well researched and easy to understand. Taking real images has made the movie more effective. Actual condition of Kashmir is shown openly without filters. Not a word is spoken about patriotism yet it invokes the patriotic feeling.

Blast scenes are well done but the grenade attack on Yami looks very cinematic as she emerges unhurt from big blast.

All in all it’s a movie with a simple narrative, impressive writing and outstanding direction.

If you ask me if the movie is an extension of Kashmir Files, then I would say yes but from a very different perspective.
