The trailer of Salaar had Prabhas and Prithviraj fans excited
Ugramm was a fad among the Kannada audience in 2014
Ugramm too was a story of a friendship turned sour
The trailer of Salaar had Prabhas and Prithviraj fans excited. But Sandalwood fans came up with an uncanny observation.
Ugramm which was a fad among the Kannada audience in 2014 was Prashanth Neel’s debut film. It was through this Sri Murali-starrer that his style gained recognition and won him fame. Ugramm too was a story of a friendship turned sour. This is the broad theme emerging from Salaar’s trailer.
This had led to the trolls talking about Prashanth Neel’s limited imagination and capabilities. “Salaar is just an updated version of Prashanth Neel’s debut film “Ugramm” and I think Salaar might get mixed to positive word of mouth and may do business in the range of Rs 900 crore to Rs 1200 crore,” Vikrant Dev, a user of the microblogging platform X (formerly known as Twitter) stated.

The producer of the film Vijay Kirgandur of the Hombale Group has now responded to the allegations. “Prashanth Neel is the creator of both Ugramm and KGF. He’s aware of how to give a different product each time altogether. Hence, there’s no truth to these rumours,” he said.
Is Salaar a case of “old wine in new bottle” or are the naysayers “counting their chickens before it has hatched”? Only time will tell.
