  • Decision taken by manufacturing companies

  • Beer price was increased in June

Alcohol connoisseurs have to deal with yet another shocking update. The price of a beer bottle is set to increase. This marks the 5th time the price has been increased in the last 15 months.

The decision to increase prices has been taken by the manufacturing companies. The increase in prices would be in the range of Rs 10 to Rs 20. In the month of June, companies had increased the price. However a decision along similar lines has been taken yet again. Ever since the Indian National Congress (INC) has formed the government in Karnataka, the price of beer has increased by Rs 60.

After the conclusion of the 2023 Vidhana Sabha Elections, the duty charges on a beer bottle were increased by close to 20%. This resulted in an increase in prices. Subsequently, the manufacturing companies increased the price of a bottle by Rs 10 in order to keep pace with the cost of manufacturing. This was followed by yet another increase in duty charges by the government.

The price of a beer bottle was increased in the month of February. This had interestingly led to protests by associations formed by connoisseurs of alcohol. Whether similar protests will erupt this time around remains to be seen.
