The meeting was held in the Malleshwaram
In the first list of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates which was announced, none of the candidates for Karnataka were mentioned.
In light of the upcoming election, a core committee meeting was held in the Malleshwaram region of Bengaluru. The BJP election-in-charge Radha Mohan Das Agarwal and former Chief Ministers Yedyurappa and Basavaraj Bommai were also present in the meeting. The prospective candidates who can be announced in the first list will be discussed in the meeting. Current legislators were also considered in the pool of prospective candidates. It is expected that 3-5 names will be presented to the BJP central leadership for inclusion in the second list. This will probably be sent to the central leadership within the next 2 days.
The ticket distribution will be discussed in a meeting in Belagavi on 4th March. Several meetings in each district of the state have taken place in the lead up to this. Surveys have been conducted to gauge the public opinion. Certain seats have more than 20 contenders for the post. Only after this process gets finalised will it become clear as to which of the 28 seats will be given to the Janata Dal (Secular) (JD(S)) as part of the alliance.
