Amidst the unfolding sex scandal surrounding Janata Dal (Secular) MP Prajwal Revanna, a Karnataka BJP leader’s warning to the party’s state president regarding Revanna’s alleged possession of nearly 3,000 sex videos has come to light. Devaraje Gowda, in a letter dated December 8, 2023, expressed concerns over the potential ramifications of these videos on the BJP-JD(S) alliance in the state.

Gowda claimed that the pen drive containing the videos, some featuring government officials, was being used for blackmail purposes to coerce further sexual activities. He emphasized the damaging impact these videos could have on the BJP’s national image if the party continued its alliance with the JD(S), particularly considering Revanna’s candidacy.

The sex scandal escalated just days before the Lok Sabha elections in Karnataka on April 26, with explicit videos surfacing on social media. Amid calls for Revanna’s expulsion from the JD(S), a 47-year-old woman accused both him and his father, Holenarasipur MLA HD Revanna, of sexual harassment.

In response to the controversy, Karnataka’s Congress-led government formed a Special Investigation Team, while opposition leaders criticized the BJP for maintaining its alliance with the JD(S) despite prior knowledge of the allegations against Revanna. The sex scandal has sparked widespread outrage, with demands for accountability and justice for the victims.
