The son of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Prakash Bakale, who served as the former Vice President of the Gadag Betigeri City Municipal Corporation (GBCMC), Vinayak Bakale has been arrested for hiring contract killers to kill his father, step mother and step brother. The murder of 4 individuals in a house in Gadag at night had shocked Gadag.
Preparations for a marriage were underway in the house as the murder unfolded. The police suspected that there were major forces at play and hence constituted a special team to crack the case.
It was initially assumed to be a murder committed for robbery. The missing jewellery led to this conclusion. People found bangles nearby the house as well. However during the investigation, it was deciphered that the assailants had entered the house from the back entrance. This led the police to treat this as a planned conspiracy.

In an unintended turn of events, 2 of the intended targets including Prakash Bakale and his wife Sunanda Bakale escaped from the attack. Prakash’s brother-in-law Parashuram Hadimani, his wife Lakshmi Hadimani and his daughter Akanksha who were not targets got killed. Parashuram decided to stay back for the night after a function.
