The brutal murder of Neha Hiremath in Hubballi has sparked widespread outrage and calls for justice across the state. Amidst growing pressure, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has made a crucial announcement, stating that the investigation into Neha’s death will be handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

Today, Hubli-Dharwad cities witnessed closures and protests as citizens united to condemn the tragic killing of Neha Hiremath. Anjuman organization spearheaded protests, leading to the closure of major markets, including Hubli Shahabazar. The Justice to Neha campaign, initiated by Muslim traders, demands swift and stringent action against the accused, Fayaz, with calls for his execution. The twin cities of Hubli-Dharwad grinded to a halt as a silent march from Anjuman Institution, Dharwad, to the DC office was carried out.

Similar demonstrations erupted in Mysuru, denouncing Neha’s murder and advocating for preventive measures against such atrocities in the future. BJP State President BY Vijayendra has joined the chorus, demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the case. Hundreds of women, activists, and college students voiced their dissent against the state government in a protest rally.

In various districts of Karnataka, BJP leaders and supporters took to the streets to express their outrage. Protests unfolded in Udupi, Karwar, Kalaburagi, Bagalkote, and Chikkodi, with calls for swift justice and severe punishment for the accused, Fayaz.

The decision to hand over the investigation to CID comes amidst mounting public pressure and political demands for a transparent and thorough inquiry into Neha’s tragic death.
