Karnataka: CM Siddaramaiah holds meeting with district collectors to discuss water shortage in summer

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah held a meeting with district collectors from across the state in light of the drinking water problem being faced by citizens in Karnataka. This issue is prevalent across all districts in the state. District in-charges were also present in the meeting. Measures that can be taken at this juncture were discussed. Focus was provided to the impact on farmers and fodder procurement. CM Siddaramaiah was at his residence Kaveri and spoke of the officials via video conferencing. 

The drought faced in many districts in 2023 has accelerated the crisis. The meeting also discussed management of a possible drought in the coming days. Reports suggest that the problem of water shortage has also hit the Chief Minister’s bungalow Krishna. 

The suggestion of providing water tankers to rural areas and making arrangements for water through borewells was discussed. The establishment of helpline numbers and control rooms to register people’s complaints was one of the agendas discussed. Siddarmaiah affirmed that at the moment there is no shortage of funds for this purpose. After the meeting Siddarmaiah stated that the state government has made all possible arrangements for a prospective drought that Karnataka could face in the coming three months.
