A horrific road accident took place in the Echanahalli region that lies on the outskirts of Hassan. A collision occurred between a car and a truck. 6 people died on the spot. 

A car arriving from Mangaluru hit a divider before colliding with the truck. This resulted in the car getting ruptured. The occupants of the car were also crushed. Removing the bodies from the cars was itself a herculean task for the police.

A container with the number plate MH-46-BM3875 was headed to Mangaluru from Nelamangala. As per eyewitness accounts, the Toyota Etios car with the number plate KA-53-C-1419 crashed onto the divider on account of the driver having dozed off. There were 3 women, 2 men and a child in the car.  The deceased have been identified as Narayanappa, Sunanada, Ravikumar, Nethra, Chetan and Rakesh. Rakesh was driving the car at the time of the accident. Chetan was a minor. They hailed from Kaarahalli in the Hoskote Taluk that is close to Andarahalli and Devanahalli. “6 persons killed in Hassan car accident. In the last 24 hrs, 51 lives were lost in road accidents , one of the highest toll in recent past. Many of these were caused due to rash & reckless driving. Road safety needs responsible behaviour  from all the stakeholders,” Alok Kumar, ADGP Training, Traffic & Road Safety stated on X.
