Hospitals across the state have been warned against using a particular batch of glucose bottles following concerns raised by the medicine rating agency. The bottles, identified as 26.2.9 Ringer Lactate Infusion FFS, have been found to contain black-colored fungus, posing potential health risks to patients.

The contaminated glucose, supplied in 500ml bottles, was distributed across various hospitals by Paschim Banga Pharmaceuticals, which has now been blacklisted by authorities. A circular has been issued to hospitals, instructing them to immediately cease using the affected glucose bottles and return them to suppliers.

This alarming discovery has prompted a swift investigation into the matter, with officials aiming to determine the cause of contamination and assess any potential health impacts on patients who have already been administered the product.
Health authorities have urged hospitals to check their supplies and ensure patient safety by removing the affected glucose bottles from circulation. The blacklisting of Paschim Banga Pharmaceuticals highlights the need for stringent quality control measures in the pharmaceutical industry to prevent similar incidents in the future.
