Bad quality glucose endangers lives of poor patients

Administered patients complain of shivers, irritation in eyes

Health minister Dinesh Gundu Rao is allegedly silent

The Karnataka State Medical Supplies Corporation (KSMSCL) is under the scanner for allegedly supplying glucose that has had grave consequences on patients across Karnataka.

It is alleged that the glucose that is injected into a patient’s body with the help of IV fluids has induced shivers and tremors in them, as also a sort of irritation.

Apart from these complaints, many patients have also complained of irritation in the eyes.

As a result of multiple complaints received by patients, glucose supplied worth Rs 20 crore has been withdrawn.

KSMSCL gave orders to a fraud company?

There are allegations that KSMSCL has given supply orders to a company (Paschim Banga) that doesn’t have good credentials.

This glucose purchased by the body is meant for the use of poor people.

Certificate of mediocrity obtained

A survey conducted by the Drugs Control Department has confirmed the irregularity.

Complaint registered

A complaint has been registered against the commissioner of the health department D Randeep, with the chief minister and the Lokayukta.

And the moment the complaint was lodged, it is alleged that Randeep and his team are trying their best to cover it up. Sources tell us that they are sending emails to district health officers, doctors and drug depots not to administer the below-par glucose.

Minister silent?

In spite of the grave allegations, it is being alleged that Health minister Dinesh Gundu Rao has been conspicuous by his silence.
