The Karnataka High Court has directed the Lokayukta police to continue investigating the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) land allotment case involving Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. A status report on the probe is to be submitted to the court on January 27.

Justice M. Nagaprasanna, presiding over the matter at the Dharwad bench, instructed the Lokayukta police to present records of the investigation, which stems from a complaint filed by RTI activist Snehamayi Krishna. The case alleges corruption in the allotment of 14 MUDA sites worth ₹56 crore to Siddaramaiah’s wife in 2021, under a contentious 50:50 scheme. The sites, linked to the acquisition of 3.16 acres of land outside Mysuru city, were later returned to MUDA.
The court emphasized that a senior officer of inspector general rank would oversee the probe, while an additional director general would review the final report.
In December, the high court extended the deadline for the Lokayukta police to submit their report to January 28, 2025, modifying an earlier district court deadline. Siddaramaiah’s counsel objected to a stay on the probe, arguing it could interfere with the investigation.
The case has gained prominence since the high court upheld the prosecution sanction against Siddaramaiah on September 24, leading to the FIR registration on September 25. Further hearings are scheduled for January 15.
