K'taka HC gives its consent for holding board exams

Earlier, a single-bench judge had stayed the board exams

Now, the path becomes more clear for students

The Karnataka High Court has given its consent to hold board exams for classes 5,8,9 and 11 for schools which have an affiliation to the State Board.

A two-judge bench of Justices K Somashekar and Rajesh Rai had heard the matter.

It might be recalled that the state government had appealed against a single-bench judge which had disallowed the holding of such board exams.

It was then that the appeal by the State was heard by the judges.

An appeal had also been filed in the top court in this regard.

The schools opposing the exam had argued that such exams were not supported by the  Karnataka Education Act.

On its part, the government noted that such board exams were in the better interests of the children and if they were dropped, the standards would drop.

What the Supreme Court had said

The Supreme Court had overturned Karnataka High Court’s interim order halting state board exams for classes 5, 8, and 9. The case was then referred to a division bench, leading to the postponement of exams by the Karnataka Government.

But now with the court’s verdict, there is clarity on the matter
