The Karnataka High Court has granted the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) an extended deadline to present its annual road management strategy. The civic body now has until November 22 to submit an affidavit detailing its approach to maintaining roads and addressing the city’s persistent pothole issue.

The court emphasized the importance of ensuring smooth traffic flow for both pedestrians and vehicles. BBMP has been instructed to provide a comprehensive plan outlining the methods it employs each year to tackle potholes and keep roads in optimal condition.

The affidavit must also include a report on actions taken during the current monsoon season, particularly in relation to road repairs and pothole management. Furthermore, the court seeks a broader overview of the civic body’s efforts over the past year to maintain road infrastructure.

This directive comes in response to increasing public concerns about the state of Bengaluru's roads, which have long been plagued by potholes, especially during the rainy season. The court’s firm stance aims to hold the BBMP accountable and ensure effective measures are in place to improve road conditions across the city.

With the November deadline looming, the civic body faces pressure to provide a clear roadmap for resolving Bengaluru's pothole crisis.
