The family of a bar owner living in a three-storied house was met with a tragedy due to the malfunctioning of an air conditioning device. Short-circuiting of  the air conditioning device resulted in the house being engulfed by flames and subsequently the death of the residents of the house. The tragic incident occurred in the Ambalpadi region of Udupi city. The tragedy took place during the late hours of 16th July. 

The deceased individuals have been identified as Ramanand Shetty, the owner of a bar and restaurant and his wife Ashwini. As soon as the fire surfaced at the house, neighbours attempted to rescue its residents by breaking open the windows. Ramanand put his life at stake to rescue his wife and children. Ramanand however died in the process. His wife was taken to the hospital but did not respond to the medical treatment and passed away. Ashwini’s lungs and brain were blocked due to the breathing problems that occurred in the fire. The 2 children are undergoing treatment at the Manipal KMC Hospital.

Ashiwni was famous for the reels which she made along with her son. The immediate family members of the deceased individuals are reeling from shock due to this tragic development.
