Woman claimed to have been raped by the men on several occasions

An interfaith couple staying in a lodge in Haveri were attacked by a group of 7 people. The video of the incident had become viral. The woman has claimed to have arrived from Sirsi. She alleged that the men dragged from the lodge in a bike and took her to an isolated spot and inflicted physical abuse on her. She also claimed to have been raped by the men on several occasions. The men are then alleged to have dropped her off at the bus stop to get back to Sirsi. 

Another video of the same group indulging in the harassment of a  different woman has also come forward. The woman’s husband Tousaf has lodged a complaint alleging rape. There are speculations that officials of the Haveri police were also involved but Haveri Superintendent of Police SP Anshu Kumar denied knowledge of the same.  “Two arrests have been made and we are further identifying the accused. We will arrest three to four more people soon. Initially it was an assault case and we arrested two people. However, based on the statement of the victims, we are looking to add sections such as kidnapping, outraging the modesty of a woman, assaulting a woman and attempting to murder,” Anshu Kumar said.
