Karnataka: MSW student killed in friend’s birthday party

In a shocking incident, a student was killed after being stabbed on the stomach during a birthday party. The incident occurred at the Nugganatti village in the Yaragatti taluk of Belagavi. 23-year-old Basavaraj Muddannavar was a Master of Social Work (MSW) student. 

Basavaraj had gone to the birthday party of his friend Mallikarjun. A fight is believed to have broken out during the party. What eventually started as a heated argument quickly escalated to a physical confrontation. This culminated in Basavaraj getting stabbed. He was being taken to a hospital. He however succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital.

Basavaraj’s dead body reached the Belagavi District Hospital. Basavraj’s mother was distraught over the news of her son’s death. She demanded a death sentence for the perpetrators of this incident. She recalled that Basavraj was non-confrontational in his approach to life. She stated that he was a gold medalist in his course. She expressed that she would not have permitted him to go to a birthday party if she had knowledge of the same.
