The BJP had been baying for his blood

Karnataka minister B Nagendra resigned over the death of an officer in the Valmiki corporation in which an alleged scam of Rs 87 crore had taken place. The BJP had been baying for his blood ever since the news broke out. Earlier, he had denied resignation, but now has actually resigned.

But he negated the news report. Had this been true, he would have been the first minister to resign since the new government was formed last year. He met the CM Siddaramaiah in this regard and handed over his resignation letter.

The case:

In a tragic turn of events, Chandrashekhar (52), a Superintendent at the Karnataka Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation (KMVSTDC), reportedly took his own life a few days ago at his home in Vinobnagar, Bengaluru. According to police, Chandrashekhar hanged himself while his wife, Kavita, was attending a funeral in Machenahalli near Bhadravathi.

Chandrashekhar left a death note accusing KMVSTDC Managing Director JG Padmanabh, Accounts Officer Parashuram Durugannavar, and Union Bank of India Chief Manager Shuchismatha Rawal of driving him to suicide. He claimed that several crores had been illicitly transferred to various accounts under pressure from the managing director.

Additionally, he highlighted financial irregularities involving Rs 85 crore within the corporation, maintaining his innocence in any illegal activities.

In his note, Chandrashekhar expressed his inability to cope with the accusations and the immense work pressure. Following this revelation, his wife, Kavita, lodged a complaint against the three officials at the Vinobnagar police station, based on the contents of his death note.

This incident sheds light on alleged corruption within KMVSTDC and raises questions about the working conditions faced by its employees. The police have initiated an investigation into the allegations and the circumstances leading to Chandrashekhar’s death. The case has garnered significant attention, with many calling for a thorough probe into the claims of financial misconduct and undue pressure within the corporation.
