The Covid-19 pandemic had an effect across the globe. In order to combat the virus a nationwide vaccination drive was initiated by the government. While discussions pertaining to the Covishield vaccine was taking place, one of the aspects of the talks were its potential side effects. 

The recent development in this regard in light of the Pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca having admitted that in rare cases the Covishield Vaccine could cause Vaccine Induced Thrombotic Thrombocytopenia (VITT) has reignited this debate. A photo has gone viral in this regard. This is in reference to the Late Sandalwood actor Puneeth Rajkumar having posted an update on the microblogging platform X (formerly known as Twitter) about having received a dodge of the vaccine. The post has suddenly gained more traction.

Puneeth Rajkumar took his first dosage of vaccination on April 7th 2021. “Got my first dosage of vaccination today. If you are 45 years and above ensure you get vaccinated,” he posted after having received the dosage. He died after a sudden cardiac arrest while he was in the gym. Suspicions with regard to whether the vaccination had any role in this tragedy have arisen. He had in fact taken the Covishield vaccine. Puneeth Rajkumar died at the age of 46 causing distress to fans across Karnataka.
