Karnataka has the best track record in the recovery of stolen mobile phones. Data from the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal is a testament to this fact. There are 2,06,905 entries with regard to stolen mobiles on the portal. Of these, information regarding 89,794 phones have been uncovered. 29,550 phones have been recovered. 

23,515 phones have been recovered in Telangana. 12,581 phones have been recovered in Maharashtra. Delhi tops the country in terms of number of cases. 4,99,710 cases have been registered in Delhi. Information regarding 3.06 lakh phones among these have been uncovered. 

Across India 14,07,728 cases of theft of mobile have been recorded. The police have recovered around 1 lakh mobile phones from these. Information regarding 7.52 lakh mobiles have been uncovered from out of the 14.3 lakh stolen phones. The Central Government opened the CEIR portal in light of the rise in the number of mobile phone thefts across India. This portal has been functional for more than a year and a half.
