Preparations for the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections are underway. The first phase of the polling will be held on April 19th. In this regard, a senior police official from Karnataka who was inTamil Nadu for security related reasons passed away owing to an accident. Two police constables who were with him in the car also died. 

A police jeep that carried 5 police officials collided with a bus headed in the opposite direction. The incident occurred on the highway leading to Tiruvannamalai from Tindivanam. The deceased have been identified as Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) Assistant Commandant Prabhakar, Constable Vitthal and Tamil Nadu Constable Dinesh. 2 others have been critically injured.

The incident occurred at 4 PM on 11th April. 2 of them died on their way to the hospital. The bodies have been shifted to a Tamil Nadu hospital. The bodies will be handed over to the Karnataka Police after the post mortem. 

The accident has shattered the jeep along with the front portion of the bus. The injured officials Hemanth Kumar and Jayakumar are receiving treatment at the Tiruvannamalai Government Hospital.
