Karnataka: Pratap Simha expresses confidence in getting BJP ticket

Ticket distribution for the 2024 Lok Sabha Election is underway. The Indian National Congress (INC) has already announced candidates for 7 constituencies in Karnataka. Discussions in this regard are underway in the Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) camp as well. It is being reported many of the incumbent Members of Parliament (MPs) might miss out on the ticket for this election. Among the most discussed names is the MP of the Mysuru constituency Pratap Simha. The Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting that was scheduled to be held on 10th March has however been deferred. Leaders of the BJP have however not offered any concrete comment on this issue. “We cannot reveal things that were discussed within 4 walls. The BJP will give tickets to winning candidates,” Karnataka BJP State President BY Vijayendra said. Leader of Opposition in the Vidhana Sabha R.Ashok affirmed that the performance of incumbent MPs are being assessed. He further clarified that the final decision will be taken by the National Parliamentary Committee and that the role of the state unit is to merely provide their recommendation. 

In an interaction with NewFirst Pratap Simha seemed to be confident about his prospects. He stated that he has carried out developmental work and also has the support of the Mysuru royalty. “If my performance is compared with all other 27 MPs from Karnataka, the people know where I stand,” he remarked.
